Our client, a leading provider of highway maintenance and improvement services, is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its permanent Highways maintenance team. The role will support planned and reactive maintenance programmes, highway improvement schemes and effective commercial project delivery across a varied portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage commercial and administrative functions in line with contract terms, maximising and protecting the commercial position
  • Liaise with the Client regarding commercial matters, audit enquiries and contractual issues
  • Monitor and actively manage Work in Progress to maintain acceptable levels
  • Manage subcontractors, including the preparation and issuing of payment and other contractual notices
  • Organise and lead monthly Cost Value Reconciliation meetings with Commercial and Operational teams
  • Manage change control, including Compensation Events, Early Warnings and Star Rates
  • Provide contractual, commercial and measurement advice to Operations and Commercial teams
  • Support the Commercial Manager with monthly applications for payment, team development and other commercial duties

Job Requirements:

  • Strong commercial experience within the construction industry in a Managing or Senior Quantity Surveyor position
  • Experience in quantity surveying within highway maintenance or related infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts and its commercial administration requirements
  • Degree or HND qualification in Quantity Surveying or a relevant subject is desirable
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of English
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using Causeway Project Accounting, Confirm and Oracle would be advantageous
