A leading organisation in the defence and security sector is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join the Synthetic Training and Engineering Products team in Warton (near Preston). This contract role focuses on Infrastructure as Code, automation, and secure delivery of synthetic training device infrastructure.

What you'll be doing
- Designing, building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code to automate deployment, configuration and management
- Using automation tooling (ideally Ansible) in secure / air-gapped environments
- Producing scalable, resilient and secure infrastructure patterns (reusable and maintainable)
- Monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement aligned to a release roadmap
- Working closely with security specialists to ensure compliance with corporate and product security controls
- Collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams (hardware/software, maintainers, end users, security engineers)
What you'll need (essential)
- Strong infrastructure engineering background with IaC / automation
- Hands-on experience with Ansible (or similar) and best-practice infrastructure design
- Practical security mindset (compliance, assurance testing, secure-by-design)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
- Eligibility to obtain/hold BPSS + SC (plus ITAR / UK Eyes Only constraints)
Nice to have
- Exposure to some of: Aruba/Cisco networking, Palo Alto, VMware, Windows Server/Client, RHEL
- Defence sector experience
- Relevant certifications across the above tech stack
