Our client, a leading defence and security organisation, is seeking an RF Systems Engineer to join its growing Data Link Systems team in Bristol or Stevenage. This permanent role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of advanced RF communication systems supporting high-performance weapons systems across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the research, concept development, design and production of RF data link systems
  • Managing requirements and supporting systems design activities across the product lifecycle
  • Participating in or leading technical design reviews and producing clear engineering documentation
  • Supporting system-level functionality proving, including software and firmware integration
  • Coordinating the transition of development hardware into production, including environmental and qualification testing
  • Working with external suppliers in collaboration with procurement teams
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers where appropriate
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting technical information to internal and external stakeholders

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in systems engineering, RF engineering, microwave engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Knowledge of RF and microwave systems, with an interest in developing advanced RF communications capability
  • Understanding of requirements management, systems design and systems modelling
  • Familiarity with antenna systems, waveform design and implementation
  • Knowledge of system-level RF modelling and real-time digital signal processing for high-bandwidth systems
  • Experience with modelling, autocode generation, signal processing or research based on technical publications
  • Understanding of software and firmware integration, system proving, design certification and product qualification
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality technical reports and presentations
