Our client is a major civil engineering contractor delivering long-term highway maintenance services in partnership with a County Council. They are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team and support the successful delivery of a newly secured, long-term highways maintenance contract.
This permanent role offers an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Junior Quantity Surveyor to develop a career within a supportive and close-knit environment. You will contribute to the commercial management of routine highway maintenance works across the county, handling a high volume of low-value projects and ensuring accurate cost control and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the commercial aspects of routine highway maintenance works
- Preparing accurate valuations, applications and cost reports
- Monitoring project costs, budgets and financial performance
- Supporting contract administration under NEC forms of contract
- Managing a high volume of low-value maintenance schemes
- Working closely with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners
- Identifying commercial risks and supporting effective cost control
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to the successful delivery of the highways contract
Job Requirements:
- Experience in Quantity Surveying within civil engineering, highways or a related construction environment
- Understanding of highway maintenance works and commercial processes
- Knowledge of NEC forms of contract and contract administration
- Experience in valuations, cost control and financial reporting
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Excellent attention to detail when managing multiple work packages
- Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Junior Quantity Surveyors with suitable NEC experience are encouraged to apply
