Our client is seeking a Senior Document Controller to take ownership of project information management across complex construction and infrastructure projects in the highways and wider built-environment sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day document control across multiple live projects, maintaining accurate document and drawing registers.
- Control the receipt, issue, distribution, revision, supersession and archiving of project information.
- Administer the cloud document-management system, including folder structures, user access, permissions and external collaboration.
- Maintain drawing directories, project specifications, material data schedules, tender documentation and professional-team records.
- Support the management of Golden Thread, Building Safety Act, Building Safety Regulator and regulatory information, ensuring clear audit trails.
- Maintain controlled records relating to fire safety, passive fire protection, compartmentation, safety cases, hazard information and remedial works.
- Coordinate information from architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, regulators and other stakeholders.
- Identify missing, incomplete or incorrectly controlled information and recommend improvements to project information systems and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience in document control, project information management, technical administration or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex electronic document repositories, document registers and drawing registers.
- Strong understanding of revision control, version management, information distribution, audit trails and structured filing systems.
- Experience administering a cloud-based document-management platform
- Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills, together with strong general IT competence.
- Highly organised, methodical and detail-focused, with the confidence to challenge discrepancies and follow up outstanding information.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with senior management, consultants, contractors and external organisations.
- Construction, highways, engineering, infrastructure or another regulated and technically focused sector experience would be beneficial.
Desirable Knowledge:
- Experience in residential development, high-rise buildings, building safety or fire-remediation projects.
- Understanding of the Golden Thread, Higher-Risk Buildings, the Building Safety Act or Building Safety Regulator processes.
- Experience with tender and procurement documentation, construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or DWG files, without the requirement to work as a CAD technician.
Working Arrangements:
The role will initially be office based in central london to support training and familiarisation with the project systems, people and procedures. Following this initial period, some home working may be considered by agreement; however, regular attendance at the office and project locations will remain necessary. Training will be provided on the client's building-safety, Golden Thread and specialist project-management systems.
