Our client is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its highways and infrastructure team in Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds or Newcastle. This permanent opportunity involves supporting major UK infrastructure, land development, energy, defence and renewable energy projects through the delivery of safe, high-quality civil engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage civil engineering design teams delivering complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Develop and review technical designs for utilities, drainage, pavements, access arrangements, earthworks and construction logistics.
- Prepare, check and approve design reports, specifications, drawings and engineering calculations.
- Provide technical input on external works and work with project managers to meet programme, quality and budget requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, project teams and UK and international multi-disciplinary colleagues to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Mentor and support less experienced engineers, helping to develop technical capability across the team.
- Provide technical support for bids and proposals while resolving complex engineering challenges with appropriate professional judgement.
- Maintain compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety legislation, quality procedures and relevant design standards.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer status, or active progress towards professional accreditation.
- Experience coordinating or managing civil engineering design delivery within a consultancy or multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of external works, including drainage, utilities, pavements and earthworks.
- Understanding of current design codes, industry standards, CDM Regulations and best practice in highways and infrastructure design.
- Experience using relevant engineering software, such as Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage or Civil 3D, would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication, technical briefing and report-writing skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Proactive, collaborative and safety-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and support successful client outcomes.
Additional Information:
- Hybrid working is available, with approximately three days per week based in an office or on site.
- Experience in the energy or defence sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A full driving licence is desirable.
- The role may be subject to relevant security clearance requirements.
