Our client is seeking a Project Manager to join its construction team in Cambridge. This permanent opportunity involves leading the delivery of a mechanical engineering or MEP package on a large, complex, multi-disciplinary commercial project, from design and procurement through to installation, commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead compliance across design, engineering, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery programme, including planning, scrutiny, performance monitoring and contingency planning.
  • Develop and maintain effective project and workplace controls throughout delivery.
  • Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of designated work packages, contributing to financial forecasting, cost-value reporting and profit improvement.
  • Coordinate multiple disciplines, interfaces and sequencing requirements across the project.
  • Proactively manage risks and opportunities, ensuring mitigation actions are implemented and commercial impacts are clearly communicated.
  • Drive compliance with quality plans, company procedures and corporate governance standards.
  • Lead teams, support performance management and contribute to the development of project personnel.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in mechanical engineering, MEP delivery or mechanical construction.
  • Experience managing large-scale MEP contracts within a collaborative construction environment.
  • Understanding of complex project interfaces, work sequencing, testing and commissioning requirements.
  • Formal health and safety qualifications, including SMSTS as a minimum.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver projects safely, on time and to high-quality standards.
  • Experience in commercial and contractual management, risk management and financial forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, governance and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
