Site Engineer - Highways (Night Shift)
Location: Cheshire (Major Highways Project)
Duration: Initial 9-week contract (26th October - 18th December), returning 4th January - 29th January. Potential for extension through to the end of March.
Shift Pattern: Nights
Rate: £450 CIS
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major highways project in Cheshire, working on a busy section of the Motorway. This is a night shift position supporting the delivery of critical highways infrastructure works, ensuring projects are completed safely, on programme and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out and surveying works in accordance with design drawings and specifications.
- Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built information.
- Managing quality assurance processes and completing relevant inspections and test plans (ITPs).
- Supporting site management with daily planning and coordination of works.
- Ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are maintained at all times.
- Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors and the client team.
- Monitoring progress and reporting any issues that may impact programme delivery.
- Assisting with temporary works, traffic management and highway construction activities.
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with National Highways and project requirements.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on highways, roads or infrastructure projects.
- Competent in setting out using GPS and total station equipment.
- Strong understanding of QA documentation and site records.
- Ability to work independently on night shifts.
- CSCS Card essential.
- SMSTS or SSSTS desirable.
- NRSWA qualification advantageous.
- Experience working on live highways schemes is highly desirable.

- Extension: Potential for one engineer to remain on the project through to the end of March.
