Our client, a growing organisation within the renewable energy sector, is seeking an Esri ArcGIS Engineer to support the planning, design and development of power infrastructure. This permanent opportunity would suit a GIS professional or surveyor with strong ArcGIS Pro capabilities and practical experience in substations, underground cable routes and overhead line corridors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using ArcGIS Pro to model substations, underground cable routes and overhead line corridors
- Applying Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst and Utility Network tools to renewable energy and power infrastructure projects
- Carrying out spatial analysis, corridor routing, terrain profiling and constraint mapping
- Managing utility and network data, including the maintenance of geodatabases and as-built records
- Applying GIS principles to substation siting, cable trench and route design, and overhead line alignment
- Producing accurate maps, design drawings and technical information for project teams and stakeholders
- Developing Python and ArcPy automation tools for optimisation, quantity take-offs and drawing production
- Working with engineering, surveying and development teams to support effective project delivery
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience using Esri ArcGIS, particularly ArcGIS Pro, within the utilities, energy, surveying or infrastructure sector
- Advanced knowledge of Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst and Utility Network tools
- Experience in GIS-based spatial analysis for power infrastructure and renewable energy projects
- Understanding of electrical network design principles and their application within GIS
- Practical knowledge of substation siting, cable route and trench design, and overhead line alignment
- Experience managing geodatabases, utility network data and as-built records
- Proficiency in Python and ArcPy, with the ability to develop automated GIS workflows and custom tools
- Surveying experience, strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical and spatial data accurately
