About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking experienced Offshore Client Representatives to support geophysical and geotechnical survey campaigns for major offshore renewable energy developments who ideally can be Japanese speaking.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of offshore site investigation programmes, acting as the client's representative onboard survey vessels and ensuring operations are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Working within a fast growing offshore wind sector, you will act as the primary liaison between vessel crews, survey contractors and shore based project teams while overseeing data acquisition and survey execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the client's representative onboard offshore survey vessels.
- Supervise geophysical and geotechnical survey operations.
- Monitor survey performance and progress against project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and industry best practice.
- Review operational reports and daily survey activities.
- Oversee data acquisition, sampling programmes and quality control processes.
- Validate survey deliverables and ensure data integrity.
- Coordinate communication between offshore and onshore stakeholders.
- Provide timely updates, observations and recommendations to project teams.
- Support operational decision making to maintain efficiency and minimise risk.
Requirements
- Ideally be able to communcate in Japanese and English (written and verbal)
- Previous experience as an Offshore Client Representative, Client Rep, Marine Representative, or similar offshore supervisory role.
- Proven track record supporting offshore geophysical and/or geotechnical survey projects.
- Strong knowledge of offshore survey methodologies and data products.
- Experience with data review, sampling activities and quality assurance/quality control procedures.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership and decision making capabilities in offshore environments.
Mandatory Certifications
- Offshore Survival Certification (BOSIET, FOET, or equivalent).
- Valid Offshore Medical Certificate.
Desirable Experience
- Offshore wind farm development projects.
- Site investigation campaigns for fixed bottom or floating offshore wind developments.
- Geophysical survey techniques such as:
- Multibeam Echosounder (MBES)
- Side Scan Sonar (SSS)
- Sub-bottom Profiler (SBP)
- Magnetometer Surveys
- Geotechnical investigations including:
- CPT Operations
- Borehole Sampling
- Vibrocore Sampling
- Geotechnical Laboratory Testing Programmes
- Experience working with Japanese developers, contractors or stakeholders within the offshore renewable energy sector.
