Our client is seeking a PTS Site Engineer to support the delivery of civil engineering works on a major rail infrastructure project in Suffolk. This contract role will involve setting out, site engineering control, quality assurance and technical support within a highly regulated environment, helping to maintain programme, safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out setting out for civils works, including earthworks, drainage, foundations, concrete, ducting, troughing and access or temporary works interfaces.
- Establish and maintain site control, survey checks and accurate as-built records using appropriate surveying equipment.
- Provide daily engineering support to site supervisors and forepersons, ensuring works are delivered to design and specification.
- Complete and maintain quality assurance documentation, including ITPs, check sheets, inspections, NCR support and handover packs.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications and schedules, raising RFIs and supporting technical queries with designers and the project team.
- Support temporary works processes, including permits, checks and coordination with the Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor where required.
- Maintain engineering documentation, including RAMS support, permits, site diaries, progress records and materials take-offs.
- Coordinate with survey teams, subcontractors and suppliers to keep works aligned with the programme while promoting a strong HSQE culture.
Job Requirements:
- Valid, in-date PTS certification.
- Experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering, rail or infrastructure projects.
- Competence in setting-out equipment, including Total Station and GPS, together with a sound understanding of surveying principles.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance and ITP processes, with the ability to maintain accurate engineering records.
- Ability to read and work from construction drawings, specifications and project schedules.
- Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with site teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Understanding of site safety, HSQE requirements and regulated construction environments.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working on major infrastructure or regulated sites, such as rail.
- CSCS or relevant industry card, together with SSSTS or SMSTS.
- HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
