Our client is seeking a Data Architect to join its technology team, supporting mission-critical applications. This fixed-term maternity cover position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative data platforms and software solutions within a fast-paced, globally recognised sporting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and evolution of data architecture, technology and tooling in line with the wider software strategy
- Design and document data architecture solutions, patterns and models that meet business and technical requirements
- Support architecture initiatives, roadmap activities and delivery across assigned projects and workstreams
- Collaborate with software engineers, product owners and stakeholders to ensure solutions align with architectural standards and principles
- Support system modernisation, technical debt reduction and the adoption of effective engineering practices
- Contribute to improvements in development tooling, build pipelines and CI/CD processes
- Participate in design reviews, requirements refinement, architecture discussions, sprint ceremonies and technical demonstrations
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less experienced team members
Experience required
- Experience designing and delivering data solutions, contributing to data architecture and applying established design patterns
- Strong understanding of data migration, data analysis, data modelling, data integration patterns and data lifecycle management
- Experience with master data, operational data stores, analytical platforms and distributed data systems
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational database technologies, including schema design, performance optimisation and scalability
- Experience supporting operational, analytical or historical reporting workloads
- Understanding of cloud-native data technologies, data orchestration and ETL processes
- Awareness of data governance, metadata management, data quality, data lineage and the responsible use of AI-assisted tooling
- Positive and collaborative approach, with the ability to remain calm, adaptable and solutions-focused in high-pressure situations
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent commercial experience
- Understanding of software development practices, CI/CD and modern data platform tooling
