The Opportunity

A motorsport engineering organisation competing at the highest level of international single-seater racing is seeking an experienced Senior Aerodynamicist to join its aerodynamic development team.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the evolution of a cutting-edge race car, taking ownership of aerodynamic component development from initial concept through testing, analysis and implementation. You will contribute directly to on-track performance while helping to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within a highly competitive environment.

In addition to leading aerodynamic development projects, you will support the growth of junior engineers through mentorship and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Aerodynamic Development

  • Generate innovative aerodynamic concepts and component designs using CAD.
  • Create and prepare geometries for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and wind tunnel testing.
  • Analyse CFD and wind tunnel results to identify high-performing solutions.
  • Define, specify and manage efficient wind tunnel test programmes.
  • Conduct wind tunnel testing activities, including occasional shift-based work.
  • Recommend and support track validation of successful aerodynamic developments.

Technical Innovation

  • Develop and implement improved methods, tools, and processes for aerodynamic concept generation, design, testing, analysis and reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency and performance.
  • Contribute new ways of thinking that push the boundaries of aerodynamic performance.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Work closely with aerodynamic leadership to develop and refine future vehicle concepts.
  • Provide technical oversight, coaching and mentorship to engineers within the aerodynamic group.
  • Collaborate effectively with CFD, design, model shop, production, testing and performance teams.
  • Build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary departments to ensure successful project delivery.

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of four years' experience in Formula One or elite-level motorsport aerodynamic development.
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Aerodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of aerodynamics.
  • Excellent knowledge of CFD methodologies and wind tunnel testing techniques.
  • Experience planning and leading wind tunnel test programmes.
  • Proficient CAD skills.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and deliver performance gains under demanding timescales.
