About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technician to join a growing multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of complex projects across a range of sectors.
Working under the direction of the Principal Architectural Technologist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and construction information that transform design concepts into compliant, coordinated, and buildable solutions. You will play a key role throughout the RIBA stages, ensuring technical accuracy, multidisciplinary coordination, and successful project delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong technical detailing skills and experience working within a consultancy or design-led construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed architectural drawings, schedules, and technical information across all relevant RIBA stages.
- Develop technical detailing solutions that address buildability, compliance, and coordination requirements.
- Coordinate architectural information with internal disciplines and external consultants, including Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and BIM teams.
- Support multidisciplinary design coordination to identify and resolve clashes before construction.
- Work within BIM environments and ISO 19650 information management processes.
- Manage drawing revisions, document control, version management, and project information workflows.
- Coordinate QA/QC reviews and ensure technical information is issued accurately and on time.
- Manage statutory approval requirements, including Building Regulations, planning conditions, and fire strategy requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant technical standards, client requirements, and industry-specific regulations.
- Support technical query resolution throughout design development and construction phases.
- Maintain drawing registers, project records, and controlled documentation systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical standards, drawing templates, and detailing approaches across projects.
About You
You'll be a technically focused professional with a strong understanding of construction methods, detailing, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong technical detailing capability and understanding of building construction.
- Experience producing architectural technical information within a consultancy or design-led construction environment.
- Experience working across multiple RIBA stages.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with architects, engineers, BIM teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Proficiency with:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- BIM workflows and document control systems
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650 information management principles.
- Strong understanding of:
- Building Regulations
- Planning legislation
- National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)
- Experience supporting statutory approvals and controlled drawing review processes.
Desirable
- Experience of Secure by Design requirements.
- Knowledge of sector-specific standards such as JSPs, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), or similar technical frameworks.
- Membership of CIAT or a desire to work towards Chartered status.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
- CIAT membership (or working towards Chartered status) would be advantageous.
