Our client is seeking x10 Quality Inspectors to support quality engineering activities within the defence and security sector at Devonport Docks. This is an initial 12-month contract, with the first month worked on day shifts before moving to night shifts from 7:00pm to 5:30am, following a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern (Rate uplifts available for Nights and Weekend nights).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality control inspection in accordance with relevant specifications, approved procedures, Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Attend kick-off meetings and, where applicable, Pre-Inspection Production Meetings and supply chain capability reviews
  • Verify critical parameters identified in drawings, Quality Plans and ITPs, ensuring accurate dimensional reports are produced
  • Witness work activities, inspections, testing, Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests
  • Confirm that inspection and test equipment is suitably calibrated, including verification of UKAS accreditation or traceability where required
  • Monitor inspection findings, ensuring issues are reported, corrected and verified, and that only suitably qualified and experienced personnel undertake relevant activities
  • Produce daily and weekly inspection reports, report progress to the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager, and maintain Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs)
  • Complete final inspections, issue relevant release certificates and contribute to contract close-out reports where required

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in quality inspection or quality engineering within an engineering, manufacturing, construction or defence environment
  • Strong understanding of Quality Plans, ITPs, technical drawings and inspection procedures
  • Experience of dimensional inspection, quality control and verification of critical parameters
  • Understanding of calibration requirements and UKAS-traceable inspection and test equipment
  • Ability to review inspection findings, manage corrective actions and verify completed work
  • Experience of producing inspection reports and maintaining quality records
  • Strong attention to detail, communication and reporting skills
  • Willingness and ability to work night shifts on a 4-on, 4-off rota following an initial day-shift period
