An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Marine Electronics Engineer to join a well-established marine business supporting commercial and offshore vessels throughout the UK and overseas.
This role will suit a marine electronics professional with strong experience of navigation and communication systems, including radar, gyro compass, GPS, VHF and MF/HF radio systems, who enjoys a varied mix of installation, commissioning, fault finding and survey work.
The Role
- Install, commission, service and maintain marine electronic, navigation and communication systems.
- Undertake fault finding, repairs and upgrades onboard vessels and at customer sites.
- Work on radar, sonar, GPS, ECDIS, gyro compasses, VHF/MF/HF radio systems, VDR and internal communication systems.
- Carry out vessel surveys, radio surveys and VDR performance testing.
- Ensure all installations comply with relevant maritime regulations and international standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers undertaking complex installations, commissioning and fault-finding activities.
- Produce service reports and technical documentation.
- Travel regularly throughout the local area, with occasional UK and overseas travel.
- Work outdoors and at height when required.
- Participate in ad-hoc weekend and out-of-hours work.
Requirements
- Proven experience within marine electronics, marine electrical or maritime engineering.
- Strong knowledge of marine navigation and communication systems.
- Experience with radar, gyro compass, GPS, VHF and MF/HF radio equipment.
- Ability to diagnose, repair, install and commission marine electronic systems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid passport.
- Right to work in the UK.
