Building Control - Plan Checker (Remote)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Discretionary Bonus
Location: Fully Remote (UK-based / anywhere in the UK)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Building Control Plan Checker to join a growing team on a fully remote basis. You will assess plans for compliance with Building Regulations and produce clear, technically robust plan-checking reports.
This role suits someone who is confident working independently, can manage their own workload remotely, and enjoys providing high-quality technical guidance to clients and design teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed remote plan checks for projects from Class 2A upwards.
- Produce clear, accurate, well-structured plan-checking reports.
- Liaise with clients, architects, designers and contractors to resolve technical queries.
- Provide professional advice on regulatory compliance and technical standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with internal procedures.
- Manage workload effectively to meet agreed timescales and service levels.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in Building Control plan checking (private sector or local authority).
- Demonstrable experience assessing projects from Class 2A with training provided (up to Class 2F).
- Strong working knowledge of current Building Regulations, Approved Documents, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent technical judgement and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Confident IT skills and familiarity with digital plan-checking systems.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Building Control, Construction, Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB).
- Experience working within a remote or hybrid building control environment.
