Construction Site Agent - Highways & Infrastructure
We are looking to recruit an experienced Construction Site Agent to oversee the successful delivery of planned highways and infrastructure schemes. Working as part of a dedicated Construction Team, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise highway and infrastructure schemes, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to achieve programme objectives.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, designers, utility providers, and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure construction plans, risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), permits, and safety systems are implemented effectively.
- Maintain accurate site records, including site diaries, progress reports, and resource allocation records.
- Support the Scheme Delivery Manager in developing, monitoring, and delivering construction programmes.
- Coordinate traffic management requirements and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Monitor costs, productivity, and resources to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
- Drive a positive health and safety culture across all site activities.
- Ensure works are completed in line with client specifications and programme requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects as a Site Agent, Sub Agent, or Senior General Foreman.
- SMSTS and CSCS certification essential (IOSH desirable).
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple workstreams.
- Good understanding of NEC contracts and project delivery processes.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage resources and control costs effectively.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Experience with traffic management, drainage, surfacing, structures, or public realm works would be advantageous.
