We are currently working with a London Local Authority seeking a Traffic Design Engineer to support the delivery of traffic management and highway improvement schemes across the borough.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience in traffic engineering, parking, highways or local authority scheme delivery who is looking to develop their technical and project delivery skills within a busy Traffic Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake site surveys, collect traffic and condition data, and carry out site investigations to support scheme design.
- Assist with the design and preparation of drawings for traffic management and highway improvement schemes.
- Prepare cost estimates and supporting documentation for traffic management projects.
- Inspect contractor works on site, ensuring quality standards and specifications are achieved.
- Liaise with contractors, utility companies and other stakeholders during scheme delivery.
- Assist with the preparation and review of Traffic Management Orders.
- Issue work orders, site instructions and associated project documentation.
- Respond to public enquiries and assist with correspondence to residents, elected Members and stakeholders.
- Utilise relevant computer software and engineering systems to support project delivery.
- Prepare reports, technical documentation and project updates as required.
Requirements
- Experience within traffic engineering, highways, parking or transportation.
- Knowledge of traffic management schemes and highway improvement projects.
- Experience using AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Ability to interpret technical information and prepare clear drawings and documentation.
- Strong communication skills and experience dealing with the public and stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Local authority experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
