Our client, a leading organisation in the automotive and advanced technology sector, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join its Quality department on a contract basis. This role will support supplier quality activities across a range of commodities, helping to develop a reliable supply chain that delivers conforming products on time and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead supplier quality activities, including supplier assessments, audits and site visits
- Support suppliers in meeting quality, technical and production requirements
- Manage non-conforming products, concessions, containments and corrective actions
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities using methods such as 8D, 5-Why and Ishikawa
- Develop supplier performance monitoring systems and support continual improvement across the supply chain
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for supply chain quality concerns within assigned programmes
- Build effective supplier relationships on technical matters, development parts and production processes
- Support engineering change requests, Design for Excellence activities, component releases and risk-based supplier development
Job Requirements:
- Experience in supplier quality engineering or a related quality engineering role within the automotive or manufacturing sector
- Strong knowledge of quality engineering, supplier audits, non-conformance reports and concessions
- Experience of reviewing PPAP documentation and leading APQP activities
- Understanding of quality management systems and standards, such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, AS9100 or similar
- Proven experience in problem-solving and implementing permanent corrective actions
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Ability to prioritise activities using risk management principles and travel nationally or internationally when required
