Our client is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the safe and successful delivery of civils and electrical construction works on an ICP 132kV substation project near Harrogate. This contract opportunity will suit a Yorkshire-based professional who can travel to site or board locally and has experience delivering high-voltage transmission and distribution schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking ownership of the construction programme and overseeing the safe delivery of all site works
  • Managing construction activities across both civils and electrical disciplines
  • Working with planners to provide programme updates, coordinate resources and report on progress
  • Overseeing quality management processes, including ITPs, photographs, progress records, hold points and client inspections
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, communicating technical details and resolving queries with project and design teams
  • Working closely with Project Management, Engineering and Commercial teams to identify and communicate risks, issues and progress
  • Managing health and safety risks, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and maintaining the required safety documentation, including CPPs, RAMS, permits and POWRA
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to ensure work is delivered safely, professionally and to the required standards

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering EHV or HV construction schemes at 132kV or 66kV
  • Experience in ICP, private network or DNO projects is strongly preferred; relevant transferable experience will also be considered
  • A primary civils or electrical background, with practical experience of the secondary discipline on multi-disciplinary schemes
  • Strong understanding of substation construction, transmission and distribution projects and site delivery requirements
  • SMSTS qualification
  • Appropriate CSCS or ECS card
  • Competence in applying the CDM 2015 Regulations and managing construction health and safety requirements
  • IOSH Health and Safety training is desirable, while familiarity with Northern Powergrid DNO competencies and requirements would be advantageous
