Our client is seeking a Senior Piping Designer to support shipbuilding, defence and security projects on a permanent basis. The role will involve producing accurate piping designs and technical documentation for marine and defence applications, working closely with engineering and project teams to deliver safe, practical and compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing detailed piping designs and layouts for shipbuilding and marine engineering projects
- Producing 2D drawings, 3D models and associated technical documentation
- Applying SISS design principles and relevant engineering standards
- Working with Design Engineers and multidisciplinary teams to resolve design challenges
- Reviewing designs to ensure accuracy, manufacturability and compliance with project requirements
- Supporting design reviews, technical queries and engineering change processes
- Co-ordinating piping systems with structural, mechanical, electrical and outfit disciplines
- Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and document control throughout the design process
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience in piping design within shipbuilding, marine engineering, defence or a related industry
- Understanding of SISS design requirements and ship systems integration
- Strong knowledge of piping layouts, equipment connections and marine engineering principles
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, vessel information and project requirements
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to design work
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Relevant engineering, design or technical qualification, or equivalent practical experience
