Private Network Design Engineer
Our client, a specialist provider within the distribution engineering sector, is seeking a Private Networks Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of private electricity networks. This permanent, hands-on role offers varied exposure across LV, 11kV and wider network design, with mentoring from experienced engineers to support technical development and career progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing general arrangements, layouts, single-line diagrams, technical submittals, construction drawings and technical reports
- Preparing compliant designs in line with customer requirements, ENA, DNO and IDNO G81 standards, BS7671 and the Business Management System
- Supporting Senior Engineers with design calculations, technical documentation and value engineering
- Assisting Tendering Engineers and Project Managers with drawings, tenders and day-to-day technical challenges
- Producing accurate as-built drawings and ensuring design outputs are buildable, practical and cost-conscious
- Maintaining design standards, drawing registers and technical documentation
- Engaging with external stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and escalating design challenges promptly
- Supporting NERS accreditations, design audits, technical reviews, project financials and continuous improvement initiatives
Job Requirements:
- HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience with LV and 11kV design principles, with an interest in developing knowledge of EHV networks
- Understanding of the practical application of electrical installations and private electricity networks
- Knowledge of, or exposure to, earthing design, control, protection and automation schemes would be advantageous
- Familiarity with ENA, DNO or IDNO G81 standards and BS7671
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, project managers, engineers and site teams
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Safety awareness, with EUSR, CSCS or ECS certification and First Aid at Work certification, or a willingness to obtain these
