MEP Lead - Mission-Critical Data Centre Projects

Location: Helsinki, Espoo & Kirkkonummi, Finland

Position Type: On-Site

About Our Client

Our client is Europe's premier, dedicated data centre delivery partner, renowned for executing massive, complex turnkey solutions from initial design right through to construction, fit-out, and final commissioning. Operating at the cutting edge of digital infrastructure, they have earned a reputation as the most trusted general contractor in the sector, delivering multi-megawatt hyperscale campuses across Europe.

Right now, they are scaling up their operations in Finland to power landmark mission-critical developments across Espoo and Kirkkonummi. These high-profile campuses involve massive multi-facility rollouts-such as multi-level data halls, admin and ancillary structures, complex soil stabilisation engineering, sustainable rainwater harvesting systems, and high-density electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

We are looking for an ambitious, technically elite MEP Lead to take ownership of these flagship Finnish builds, driving mechanical, electrical, and plumbing packages from the ground up to successful handover.

The Role

As the MEP Lead, you will be the technical backbone on-site across our client's strategic Finnish locations in Espoo and Kirkkonummi. You will spearhead all mechanical, electrical, and public health installations, ensuring that complex mission-critical infrastructure is delivered safely, seamlessly integrated, and fully aligned with rigorous hyperscale specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Ownership & Delivery: Direct all MEP site operations across the project lifecycle, ensuring absolute adherence to high-availability design standards, local codes, and project baselines.
  • Complex Systems Coordination: Oversee the intricate installation and sequencing of mission-critical systems, including high-capacity UPS configurations, standby diesel generators, HV/LV switchgear, complex chilled water plant rooms, CRAH/CRAC units, hot/cold aisle containment, and BMS integration.
  • Design & BIM Alignment: Collaborate closely with design and BIM teams to resolve spatial clashes, review technical submittals, and ensure 3D coordination models translate accurately to physical installation on-site.
  • Subcontractor & Commercial Leadership: Manage MEP subcontractor performance, tracking progress against master programmes, monitoring manpower levels, and supporting commercial teams with variation tracking and cost control.
  • Commissioning & Handover (Cx): Drive the rigorous testing and commissioning (FAT, SAT, Integrated Systems Testing) lifecycle, guaranteeing seamless transition from mechanical/electrical completion through to final client handover.
  • QA/QC & Safety Standards: Enforce stringent quality control procedures and champion a zero-harm safety culture across all MEP construction activities.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience within the MEP construction sector, with a proven track record of technical leadership on major projects.
  • Deep, demonstrable expertise in managing heavy electrical and mechanical infrastructure for mission-critical facilities, data centres, or high-tech industrial builds.
  • Exceptional fluency in MEP coordination methodologies, spatial sequencing, and complex schedule delivery.
  • Strong technical comprehension of data centre cooling architectures, electrical distribution topologies, and integrated commissioning sequences.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary site teams and top-tier subcontractors.

Why Join?

  • Shape Europe's Digital Backbone: Play a vital leadership role on landmark hyperscale data centre campuses across Espoo and Kirkkonummi.
  • Market-Leading Environment: Work alongside top-tier industry professionals within a rapidly expanding, highly successful European delivery partner.
