Role Title: Authorised Person (Electrical)
Location: On-site (Espoo, Kirkkonummi, and Helsinki, Finland)
Employment Type: Full-time
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Authorised Person to join our expanding team across our major data centre projects in Finland, including key locations in Espoo and Kirkkonummi. As a leading European data centre delivery partner, we specialise in comprehensive turnkey engineering solutions-spanning civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning services-with over 430 MW of IT load currently in flight across seven European countries.
In this critical on-site role, you will champion electrical safety governance, manage high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) safe systems of work, and oversee permit controls during the critical installation, testing, and commissioning phases of our mission-critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Systems & Governance: Engage early with the site management team to implement the agreed Electrical Safe Systems of Work Procedure under the direction of the Lead Appointed Person. Ensure all workplace personnel understand and comply with these safety standards.
- Permit Control & Energised Works: Issue and strictly control permits for all energised working activities within the project scope, executing thorough lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and safety documentation.
- Technical Review & Verification: Examine project specifications and drawings to extract project-specific requirements. Review switchgear distribution topologies and control systems prior to start-up, and interpret basic electrical protection under fault conditions.
- Testing, Commissioning & Handover: Collaborate with specialist testing and commissioning contractors to review sequences and test scripts early. Coordinate closely with control system providers (SCADA, BMS, EMS) to manage system handovers under structured permit control schedules.
- Operational Adherence: Maintain strict adherence to operational procedures and high-voltage safety rules, focusing heavily on environment, health, and safety (EHS) and quality management systems.
Skills & Qualifications
- Educational Background: Relevant third-level qualifications in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or a recognised electrical trade backed by appropriate training and experience.
- Industry Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar capacity within an electrical contracting environment, with a strong background in commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, or data centre projects.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience working on medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) systems, holding valid HV switching tickets and demonstrable Authorised Person or Appointed Person experience. Level S1 (unrestricted voltage) or S2 (up to 1,000V) certification is preferred.
- Testing Background: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical testing and verification.
- Core Competencies: Highly process-driven with an unwavering commitment to EHS, quality work management, and rigorous safety protocols.
