Our Client is a leading provider of traffic management services, supporting major infrastructure, highways and utility projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead health, safety and compliance across their traffic management operations.
Reporting to the Group SHEQ Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring compliance with legislation, industry standards and company management systems while driving a positive safety culture throughout the business. This role combines site visits, depot support and remote working, with travel across operational locations required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the health & safety strategy across the traffic management division.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Chapter 8, Street Works, NHSS and ISO management systems.
- Conduct audits, inspections and investigations, implementing corrective actions and driving continual improvement.
- Review and approve risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Monitor safety performance, analyse trends and report to senior leadership.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through training, coaching and employee engagement.
- Support occupational health, wellbeing and competency management programmes.
About You
- At least 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety management role.
- Strong background within Traffic Management, Highways or Civil Engineering.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
- Good working knowledge of Chapter 8, Street Works legislation, NHSS and ISO 45001.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- GradIOSH or Chartered IOSH membership.
- ISO Auditor qualification.
- Lantra Traffic Management qualifications.
- Temporary traffic management design or operational experience.
