Role details:
Our client, a leading organisation within the defence and security sector, is seeking a Scrum Master to support agile delivery across digital and data teams. Based in Reading with hybrid working, this contract role will help enable high-performing teams, improve delivery flow and support the development of robust digital capabilities for strategic defence programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate core Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives
- Promote adherence to agile values, principles and delivery frameworks
- Support backlog refinement by encouraging clarity, prioritisation and alignment with business value
- Ensure sprint scope, dependencies and team capacity are clearly understood
- Identify and remove delivery impediments while protecting the team from external disruption
- Champion continuous improvement through actionable retrospectives and measurable process enhancements
- Coach delivery teams and stakeholders in agile ways of working
- Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary digital and data teams to support iterative delivery
Job Requirements:
- Certified Scrum Master qualification, such as CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master or equivalent
- Experience working as a Scrum Master within agile delivery environments
- Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban and supporting agile delivery practices
- Proven ability to facilitate ceremonies, manage team dynamics and build high-trust working environments
- Experience supporting digital and data delivery teams
- Ability to remove impediments, manage delivery risks and promote continuous improvement
- Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment, such as defence, security or financial services, would be advantageous
