Job description
Our client, a prominent entity in the marine sector, is currently seeking Senior and Principal Naval Architects to join their expanding team. This is a permanent opportunity for committed professionals to work on a myriad of exciting projects within the marine industry, ranging from crew transfer vessels and service operations vessels to ferries, patrol boats, workboats, and landing craft. The role encompasses the complete lifecycle of vessel design and construction, offering involvement from concept design to the build phase.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading multi-disciplinary teams in hull form development and lightship weight analysis
- Determining propulsion systems to meet operational requirements using model test data and CFD methods
- Creating 3D render images to support tender submissions
- Conducting seakeeping assessments through model testing and analytical methods
- Carrying out intact and damage stability assessments and developing global structural arrangements
- Interfacing with clients on technical design requirements and leading work within specific sectors
- Collaborating with sales, programme, and engineering teams to ensure technical quality and project delivery
- Pursuing professional development opportunities in both technical and soft skills
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture
- Experience in the marine industry, with significant experience required for senior roles
- Strong background in Naval Architecture principles and practical application within a design environment
- Understanding of relevant codes of practice, Classification Society rules, and vessel construction
- Competence in fundamental tasks such as hull design, stability and weight calculation, and performance prediction
- Experience with vessels including crew transfer vessels, service operations vessels, ferries, patrol boats, workboats etc.
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD) and advantage in specialist software like Maxsurf
- Commercial awareness and ability to produce well-presented drawings and plans
- Project management experience and capability to supervise and manage project teams
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills for direct communication with customers and stakeholders
