Anything that sharpens your teamwork, analytical, or compliance skills will find a home in Rail. 

Behind every great Rail professional is a solid qualification. A degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering is a well-travelled path, but don’t overlook NVQs or certifications like the IRSE Licence for signalling professionals. Safety courses and PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification are crucial too. Qualifications lay the foundation - be sure yours are rock solid.

Depending on your niche, whether it’s project management or technical specialisms, earnings typically range from £45,000 to £75,000 annually. Plenty of room to grow for those who've put in the time and effort. 

Those new to Rail but armed with fresh qualifications can expect to kick off their careers with salaries between £24,000 and £30,000 annually, depending on their role and region. It’s a journey, and the right start sees you chugging along the path to success in no time.
