Job description
BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Professional to join their Submarines Business Unit on a contract basis. Based in Barrow, this role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of being on-site for three days a week. This contract is for a duration of 12 months, supporting the Defence sector, particularly within Defence & Security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the procurement of base spares for Integrated Combat Systems and the Inservice side of Dreadnought Spares.
- Engaging with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective supply chain solutions.
- Handling potentially challenging suppliers, ensuring compliance with procurement standards.
- Coordinating occasional supplier visits, including potential travel within the UK and to France, with expenses covered.
- Maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Ensuring all procurement activities adhere to security clearance (SC) requirements.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of procurement strategies within the Defence sector.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in supply chain management
- Proven ability to manage relationships with suppliers and handle difficult negotiations.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Willingness to travel for supplier visits as needed.
- CIPS qualification is desirable but not essential.
