This contract role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team, combining hands-on test engineering, technical problem-solving and rigorous documentation to help deliver safe, reliable and certifiable sustainable aviation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and execute development, verification, validation and certification testing for fuel cell, hydrogen and associated propulsion system components
- Design, specify and commission test rigs, instrumentation and data acquisition systems for a range of engineering test activities
- Take ownership of component and subsystem test programmes, ensuring objectives, schedules and quality requirements are achieved
- Collaborate with system, design and integration engineers, external suppliers and technical partners to define and deliver testing requirements
- Analyse test data, interpret results and produce clear technical documentation, including test procedures, reports and recommendations
- Support air vehicle integration activities and apply critical thinking to complex engineering challenges
- Contribute to the development of safe, effective and repeatable test processes within a fast-paced aerospace environment
Job Requirements:
- Experience in test engineering, technical documentation and the preparation of test procedures and detailed laboratory or engineering reports
- Strong ability to analyse engineering data and communicate test results clearly
- Understanding of configuration control principles, test registers, P&IDs, bills of materials and risk assessments
- Hands-on experience with pressurised gas systems, fluid process equipment and fittings such as Swagelok in a laboratory or industrial environment
- Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors and data acquisition systems, including National Instruments hardware and software such as LabVIEW, or equivalent platforms
- Familiarity with control systems and PLCs, including their application in automated testing and system integration
- Understanding of safe working practices within regulated or hazardous environments
- CompEx certification, together with knowledge of high-voltage, ATEX or DSEAR requirements, would be advantageous
