Job description

Matchtech Rail are looking for an Environmental Manager to support large railway infrastructure projects in the Manchester area. The organisation strives to build a more sustainable and cleaner environment by bringing the best technology and knowledge to the railway industry ensuring we minimise the impact we have on the environment.
The Environmental Manager will support the railway team by providing long-term sustainable solutions, with the consideration of occupancy and climate resilience.
Responsibility:

• Act as the first point of contact for project and design teams concerning environmental management coverage
• Assisting and lead the development of the project Environmental Management System.
• Identify and support project teams to obtain and comply with regulatory and client requirement
• Identify, develop and facilitate environmental training
• Conduct environmental audits and site inspections and support third-party audits

Requirement:

• Demonstrable experience in environmental management on railway construction projects.
• Experience in assessing environmental aspects and impacts, developing mitigation proposals and implementing environmental management procedures to avoid or reduce environmental effects.
• Knowledge and practical experience of developing, implementing and improving EMS's certified to BS EN ISO 14001;
• Internal environmental auditor qualification
• IEMA Full Membership/Chartered Environmentalist (CENV) or equivalent
• Master's degree in relevant field
• Knowledge of the Construction Industry
